Now you can add attachments to sales transactions (estimates, invoices and sales receipts) and send them to your customers. Perhaps you want to attach a contract to an estimate. Maybe you’ll attach a picture of a completed job or a timesheet to an invoice. It’s easy and you can do it right from the sales transaction. You can even drag and drop files onto the sales transaction.

Evanston Technology Innovation Center ["TIC"] Needs Support with Evanston City Council
September 20, 2012This morning I am writing with a focus on our clients, partners, colleagues, and members of the Evanston business community. As most of you know, I returned to Evanston after close to seventeen years in New York where I was a Tax Partner with Arthur Andersen LLP. While we have retained a substantial proportion of our New York and West Coast clients, it was a difficult process to establish and develop new client relationships having been removed from the Chicago area for that length of time. Our practice has evolved to combine being an AICPA PCPS practice firm together with a technology practice that includes being a Salesforce.com System Integration Partner and Google Apps Premier Reseller.
The Evanston TIC has been by a wide margin, the single most important source of new clients for our practice, and has given us a significant opportunity to help start up businesses take root, grow and develop in Evanston. Theses businesses provide technical, professional and skilled jobs which represent the type of employment that provides potential to expand the workforce and community locally. Once these businesses grow to a point where they are ready to move outside the TIC, they have to make a choice with respect to where they “set up shop”. In several cases, the relationships these businesses have with our firm, and other professional service providers and partners become a factor in their decision to stay in Evanston….which helps all of us.
I would like to personally ask each of you that has involvement with the Evanston business community, and the TIC to consider taking a moment to email the Evanston City Counsel members and management to express support for the City‘s efforts to make an investment in the TIC so it can continue its work….as a CPA, I can’t think of a better use of taxpayer funds to stimulate the growth of local jobs and their retention in Evanston.
The following is a list of the email addresses for Evanston City leadership and Council members that could be contacted to express your support for TIC.
Please join me in supporting this effort.
aBIZinaBOX has a Resident Guru…..at least with respect to bill.com
September 19, 2012
We are very pleased to announce that bill.com has officially granted Guru Status to Jordan S. Zoot CPA. We are thrilled with the product and look forward to sharing what we have implemented to apply their outstanding technology i reengineering our business process for virtual accounting and CFO Services.
If you utilize an outsourced bookkeeper or controller, particularly one that comes to your office and pushes paper……we can provide a much more cost effective solution with much more powerful features…more to come.
Accounting Seed ……force.com Native Salesforce Integration
September 19, 2012I spent a good portion of this afternoon looking for a truly native force.com accounting/ERP integration for salesforce….and have come away being more convinced than ever that @accountingseed is the product that best fits the function….there are several other applications, in particular Financial Force that don’t seem to understand the term “native”….how can an application be “native” to force.com with a closed API….big DOH! I am convinced….if you are out here check out their booth or their website and see for yourself.
The basis for my comments is having spent excess time looking that other applications that don’t meet the criteria.

- Brandon Bruce and his team from Cirrus Insight – which provides the bridge between salesforce.com and Google Apps…..our partner whom we expect great things from…including a forthcoming Google Apps to Salesforce Contact and Calendar Sync….finally someone that will best Appirio’s sync at their own game. We look forward to their DF event at Thirsty Bear this afternoon.
- The team ad do.com for the introduction of a do.com to salesforce integration….looking forward to expanding our relationship with them
Greetings from Dreamforce 2012
September 17, 2012Greetings everyone…I arrived on the West Coast on Friday and spent the weekend with friends in Carmel…went to Big Sur, saw the Monterey Aquarium…the sea otters were unfortunately on holiday. This should be a very busy, productive and exciting week. I am going to post tweets and short bites based upon the interesting thing I see, learn and get frustrated by.
A big thank you to our friends at jitterbit.com for an invite to the Appirio SFMOMA party on Wednesday evening….that is one event I always look forward to.
We are doing a presentation on Friday on Alignment of Technology with Business Process on Friday 11:45AM in the Community Commons…more on the that to come.
I will be spending Monday – Wednesday next week in New York and will follow up to set appointments starting the middle of this week.
